Feature and Follow Friday #215

Welcome to the Feature & Follow

Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers -- but you have to know -- the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!

How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools -- keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!

What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and ayou must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to Wordpress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don't have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed.

How To Become a Featured Blog?

We pick our featured blogs randomly each week from the blogs who participated the week before.

Please be sure to feature your e-mail address clearly on your blog. Either on the main blog, on a Contact page, or on an About Me page. If I can't find your email easily, I will choose a different blog to feature.

Our Feature - Blue Books and Butterflies

1. When did you start blogging?

Officially, I started book blogging about two years ago on and off, but I started blogging consistently late last year in December and it's been great ever since.

2. What is your favorite part of book blogging?

I love discussions! Discussion posts are one of my favorite things to create and participate in. It is awesome getting to see other people's opinions and views on things. Whether your view is similar to mine or the complete opposite, I always like to hear about it in the comments.

3. What type of books do you mainly blog about?

I blog about general Young Adult and Middle Grade fiction mainly. I also do the occasional new adult and adult book review. My favorite genres are fantasy, contemporary, and dystopian.

4. What are your favorite books?

This question is actually kind of hard for me. I like so many books. My favorite books of all time are the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series and the Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan. I also like the Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins, any book by Stephanie Perkins, The Missing Series by Margaret Peterson Haddix, The Rithmatist by Brandon Sanderson, and When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead.

5. What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?

I really like just the whole experience of interacting with other readers and authors. It is great to know you are a part of a community that shares your same interests. The best thing is definitely getting responses from publishers and authors you love when you write about their books. It always makes me excited interacting with them.

Question of the Week: What book/series do you think would make a better TV show than a movie?

*First thing:  A reminder that if you want to be chosen as the Feature for #FF, please have your email address somewhere on your blog. I know there are other ways to contact people including Twitter and contact forms, but I've set up my #FF system in such a way that I need an email address. So for better or worse, that's the requirement for now.

This is the great age of television. For whatever reason - money, dwindling cinema profits, money - TV is where many of the best writers and actors are focusing their talents. And since shows are no longer limited to the traditional networks with their red tape, television shows have a lot more freedom to produce good art.

With so many great shows, I feel more confident about adapting many books into TV shows instead of movies. For example, I really wish Vampire Academy had been adapted into a TV show instead of the cheap, gimmicky movie that ended up being made.

I bet Miranda Kenneally's Hundred Oaks series - with its many companion novels - would be a great series. It's all set in the same town and have a large number of characters with different stories.

I'm sure there are more. I'll have to think of them and add them to my answer.

Now for the Follow Fun!

With GFC going the way of the dodo bird for many bloggers, there is no better time to start following blogs via RSS feed. If you use a reader, it would be great if you followed my RSS directly.

  4. I haven't watched the VA movie yet, but I'm sad that many of my friends didn't really enjoy it very much.

  5. Yeah I felt a tad let down by the VA movie. Still liked it and need to watch it on DVD...but a TV show would've been good if they put more effort into it. 1 season for 1 book. It could definitely work!

  7. I haven't read (or seen VA in that case) either of these books, so I can't say :( I've been meaning to read the VA series, but after everything I've heard about the movie, I'm more than likely going to skip that

  12. I could see the Vampire Academy series being a show instead of a movie. There's a lot of books in that series, right? I haven't read them yet or seen the movie but plan to.

I think you're right about the Hundred Oaks series. They seem perfect to make a great series!

  14. Though I never read the series, I wasn't a huge fan of the Vampire Academy film either. I'm sure a series would have been better. Have a great weekend, Alison! :D

  15. I loved the VA series and it would have been a much better TV show also in my opinion. Who knows it could still happen maybe it will be the new CW show to join Vampire Diaries. Thank's so much for hosting this week.

  17. If you are aware of all IT trends, then you have heard about custom software development. It is a not a new technology, but it has extended the world of IT to different specific functions within an organization.
