Manga Mondays #188: Skip Beat vol. 32 by Yoshiki Nakamura

Manga Mondays Meme

I've been doing Manga Mondays every week since I started my blog 4 years ago. It started out as a personal feature, but I decided to turn it into a meme last year. There are quite a few people who do Manga Mondays. I don't claim by any means that I owned or created the idea of Manga Mondays - it's an obvious choice given the alliteration. I think a meme is a great way for everyone to publicize their own Manga Mondays and get a little more publicity.

The linky will be below my review.

Skip Beat vol. 32 by Yoshiki Nakamura

Summary

Kyoko Mogami followed her true love Sho to Tokyo to support him while he made it big as an idol. But he's casting her out now that he's famous! Kyoko won't suffer in silence--she's going to get her sweet revenge by beating Sho in show biz!

Ren's trademark cool is beginning to crumble under the strain of maintaining his various personas. And the sudden manly attention being directed at Kyoko from fellow actor Kijima and a newly determined Sho aren’t helping matters. Will Kyoko’s good luck charm keep him in check, or will the beast chained inside him destroy them all?! (courtesy of Goodreads)

Feature and Follow Friday #207

Welcome to the Feature & Follow

Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers -- but you have to know -- the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!

How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools -- keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!

What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and ayou must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to Wordpress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don't have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed.

Reading in the Car

Some of my favorite childhood memories are of reading books in the backseat of my parents' car. I cried over the ending of Where The Red Fern Grows (several times) on a road trip to Phoenix from our home in Yuma. I was shocked and disturbed by the ending of I Am The Cheese by Robert Cormier on a road trip to Flagstaff. Those are only two of the hundreds of books I read while other people were driving.

February 26, 2013
Publisher:
St. Martin's Press

Summary

Two misfits.
One extraordinary love.

Eleanor... Red hair, wrong clothes. Standing behind him until he turns his head. Lying beside him until he wakes up. Making everyone else seem drabber and flatter and never good enough...Eleanor.

BEA Books Post

Sorry for the super late BEA post. I had to wait until one last box of books arrived. Then I went out of town immediately, so I haven't had time to post this until today.

BEA was, as always, a rich source of new books. I'm so excited about all of these. I've read a few so far and really enjoyed them.

Here they are:

BEA: Authors, Celebrities, and Bloggers, Oh My!

Long post coming up!

My third BEA has come and gone. Each year has been a little different, but progressively more fun as I get to better know publishers, my blogging buddies, and even New York. Here's a little about BEA and the people I encountered. I'll do another post or two about the books I received and New York in general.

Authors

I attended the best parts of the BEA Blogger's Conference: The keynote speech and the party. Maureen Johnson gave the keynote address and did just as wonderful a job as I expected her to. The party featured a performance by Tiger Beat, a band comprised of four YA authors: Libba Bray, Natalie Standiford, Barnabas Miller, and Daniel Ehrenhaft.

GIVEAWAY! Four Year Blogoversary

June 4 marked my Four Year Blogging Anniversary!

It's hard to believe I've been blogging for such a long time. It feels like lots has changed in the blogging community since I began (and it really has), but the core has always stayed the same. A friendly, welcoming group of people who love books and love sharing that love.

I've been lucky over the past four years to make some wonderful friends who I've also met in real life:  especially Danny and Pushy of Bewitched Bookworms, Jenny of Supernatural Snark, Mary of Bookswarm, Melissa of I Swim For Oceans, Karen of For What It's Worth, Julie of My 5 Monkeys, Rachel of Parajunkee, and many more. I've gone to BEA three times! Met authors and publishers, gotten ARCs, had an excuse to tour New York...

Book Riot Quarterly Box Unveiling

I got home from BEA late Monday night and had the latest Book Riot Quarterly Box waiting for me! I was excited. I didn't expect it to arrive for a few more days. Book Riot is a very popular book blog and recently created a quarterly subscription box. For $50, they will send you a box filled with books and book related items every quarter. This is their third box and the second that I received.
