Feature and Follow Friday #99

Welcome to the Feature & Follow

Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers -- but you have to know -- the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!

How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools -- keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!

What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and you must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to Wordpress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don't have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed.

Our Feature -Sinnful Books

1. When did you start blogging?

I have been blogging on and off since the end of 1999. My first home was on LiveJounral. However, after graduating with my B.A., I decided to give book blogging a try. For a few years, I had posted reviews on the 50bookchallenge community on LiveJournal. It was something that I really enjoyed doing, so it was a fairly easy transition.

2. What is your favorite part of book blogging?

Honestly, the wonderful book blogging community is my favorite part. I have met some wonderful people out there, and they have all helped me move forward. Plus, finding new books is always a plus ^_~

3. What is your favorite book(s)?

Oh sheesh, that is a long answer! Where do I start? The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorn; Njal's Saga; Sir Gawain and the Green Knight\; The Last Herald-Mage series by Mercedes Lackey; The Followship of the Ring (including The Hobbit) and Tree and Leaf by J.R.R. Tolkien; Hack/Slash; the Sandmand series, the Graveyard Book, and Coraline by Neil Gaiman; Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill; The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle; The Belgariad and Melorian by David Eddings; Rose Daughter and Spindle's End by Robin McKinley; Historian by Elizabeth Kostova; The Devouring by Simon Holt; etc.

4. What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?

The best thing would be contact with two of my favorite zombie authros: S.G. Browne and Rhiannon Frater. They are awesome people, and it was a blessing for them to write guest posts for my blog.

Q: You are a matchmaker -- your goal, hook up two characters from two of your favorite books. Who would it be? How do you think it would go?

I'm always horrible at these types of questions, but here goes...

Bella from Twilight and Ethan from Beautiful Creatures: Both the "normal" halves of paranormal couples. Both love books. Umm...don't know what else they have in common, but they're both nice people, so they'd probably like each other :-)

In a non-romantic pairing: Jasper from Twilight and Eeyore. These two should be friends. They can compete to see who out mope the other.

Now for the Follow Fun!

With GFC going the way of the dodo bird for many bloggers, there is no better time to start following blogs via RSS feed. If you use a reader, it would be great if you followed my RSS directly.

We have a new button, so update your blogs if you are used to doing this meme!

  3. Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing. You can also grab the code if you would like to insert it into your posts.
  4. Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say "hi" in your comments and that they are now following you.
  5. If you are using WordPress or another CMS that doesn't have GFC (Google Friends Connect) state in your posts how you would like to be followed
  6. Follow Follow Follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don't just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don't say "HI"
  7. If someone comments and says they are following you, be a dear and follow back. Spread the Love...and the followers
  8. If you're new to the follow friday hop, comment and let me know, so I can stop by and check out your blog!

  2. Hi! Old linky follower hopping through :)

Jasper & Eeyore = Major LOL. That'd be a hilarious pairing. Separately I like Ethan and I like Bella but I'm not sure how they'd be together. I feel like they both need a bit of excitement in their lives and it'd wouldn't be one or the other that'd provide it.

  6. LOL @ Jasper + Eeyore. That's awesome.

And I haven't read Beautiful Creatures, but splitting up Bella and Edward doesn't sound like an altogether bad idea...

  9. I love how you had a romantic and non romantic pairing and no way could Bella ever love anyone but Edward!! So true... However she can taunt others to make them think she loves them...Um poor Jacob:( I too love the Twilight series but had to go for the P & P as over them but if I would have thought Bella I would have picked her. Good picks:) Happy FF

  14. HAHAHAHA. Omg Jasper and Eeyore. I'm just picturing the two of them trying to squeeze in his twig house, and both of them pouting when it inevitably fell over.

As for Bella and Ethan. You're right, they probably would get along (they just aren't getting invited on any double dates with me and Ryan Reynolds).

    Happy FF, Alison!

  27. Oh my gosh this is a hard question! I can't even think of any pairings, I like all the characters who they're with currently:) I think you should write Stephenie and suggest a Jasper/Eeyore spinoff series.

  43. Ethan and Bella would be sweet, but I feel like Ethan is better off with Lena :)

  44. A Long Long Sleep is written by Anna Sheehan. It is a futuristic sci-fi Sleeping Beauty-esque retelling. A really interesting read if you are into that kind of thing (similar to Cinder)
