Blogging Hopping

It's time for the weekly book blogger hops again! A great opportunity to meet new bloggers and say hi to old.

Check out the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Crazy For Books.

And also check out Parajunkee's Follow My Book Blog Friday.

I'm Alison. I've been blogging for six months. I review mainly YA with a few MG books and a weekly manga feature.

2010 Book Lists

Stay tuned for a series of posts of the next two weeks with extensive lists of the books I read in 2010. Looking for a vampire book? I'll have a list for you. Want to use up a box of Kleenex? I'll have a list for you. Modeled after StephSuReads' incredible 2009 Book Lists.

Books Reviewed This Week:

Girl, Stolen by April Henry
The Aristobrats by Jennifer Solow

Manga Mondays: Dengeki Daisy vol. 2 by Kyousuke Motomi

Questions of the Week:

**Sorry - I may not be as speedy about responding to Blog Hops this weekend. I'm on vacation, and the Internet at the hotel is horribly slow, if available at all.

Blog Hop: What do you consider the most important in a story: the plot or the characters? A little of both I think. A really bad plot can't prop up good characters and vice versa. But I think I lean a little more towards valuing characters than plot.

Follow Friday: What did you study in college, or are currently studying and did it lead to your current 9 to 5 or are you doing something totally different? In undergrad, I majored in economics with a minor in political science. Then I went to law school. For all of you prospective lawyers out there...don't do it! I loved law school, and I basically like being an attorney, but there are far too many attorneys and far too few jobs. I'm lucky to be employed. Many attorneys aren't. But there I go ranting...

  5. I did not go to college, and I am currently retired. I worked for over 15 years in the secretarial division of Emery Air Freight in the 1960s and 1970s. I was a stay-at-home mom for the 1980s and 1990s, and now I am helping my daughter with her business, Tribute Books as the volunteer office manager.

  6. Happy Friday Alison! Hope you're enjoying your vacation! You seem to be like me, I can't bear to be away from my computer even when I'm supposed to be taking time off:) Good for you going to law school, I wanted to be a lawyer when I was younger, but I have a terrible fear of public speaking which would make presenting my case a little difficult;)

  14. Happy HOP! First off I'd say both are important to how I enjoy the story but ultimately it's the characters for me. Hope you're enjoying your weekend :)

  17. Hi fellow bloggers!

Blog Hop: What do you consider the most important in a story: the plot or the characters? This is a toughy! They are both so important to make a great read. I would have to say plot just because if the story is not good the characters won't really thrive with it. But there is a thin line there! For the most part I fall in love with the characters as well as the story!
