Waiting On Wednesday (13): Rival by Sara Bennett Wealer

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill of Breaking The Spine spotlighting upcoming releases.

The new website The Contemps has been getting lots of blogger press in the last few weeks. I finally checked it out and was really impressed with the selections of contemporary realistic YA fiction.

Celebrate realistic YA with The Contemps!

Here is one of the upcoming titles:

Rival by Sara Bennett Wealer
February 15, 2011

The stage is set for a high-stakes duet between two high school seniors--once friends, now enemies--as they prepare to go up against each other in a major singing competition. To Brooke, winning means escaping the in-crowd for life as a professional musician. Kathryn, meanwhile, sees victory as the key to a much-needed college scholarship. As the big day nears, each girl must face her fears about the future, her scars from the past, and the fact that the person she hates most might just be the best friend she ever had.

He has gotten quite the fan base thanks to the actor in the picture who will hopefully be portraying him in a movie at some point! (His ppl are reviewing the bks now) If you are interested in hearing more about him or the books you can visit a fellow blogger who runs the Official Team Vance site at or the offical book webpages at
