Feature and Follow Friday #246

Welcome to the Feature & Follow

Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers -- but you have to know -- the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!

How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools -- keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!

What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and ayou must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to Wordpress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don't have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed.

How To Become a Featured Blog?

We pick our featured blogs randomly each week from the blogs who participated the week before.

Please be sure to feature your e-mail address clearly on your blog. Either on the main blog, on a Contact page, or on an About Me page. If I can't find your email easily, I will choose a different blog to feature.

Our Feature - Bursting Books Reviews

1. When did you start blogging?

I first started blogging 2 years ago before I started uni but I read very little once uni started (I only read 23 books in 2 years :O). I just couldn't keep up with all the required readings for school, projects etc so I had to stop reading/blogging. I am in my final semester of uni now and I decided to get back to blogging/reading again and I've been going strong for 3 months now!

2. What is your favorite part of book blogging?

The community is definitely my favourite part. I don't have many irl friends that read as much as me so it can be a pretty lonely hobby sometimes. With book blogging, I can talk about books all the time and there will always be someone who I can talk to! Also, I think it has really helped me express my thoughts and opinions better. I used to struggle quite a bit with putting my thoughts into words but I think I am getting better at it now.

3. What type of books do you mainly blog about?

I don't really have a specific genre/type of books that I blog about. I enjoy a pretty wide variety of books from classics to YA to Adult so I just blog about any of the books I have read/enjoyed. I enjoy the writing and the storytelling aspect in books more than the genre it belongs to. :)

4. What are your favorite books?

I made a post two weeks ago regarding this: http://burstingbooks.blogspot.sg/2015/03/top-10-books-for-readers-who-like-life.html Feel free to check it out :) My all time favourite series is of course Harry Potter!

5. What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?

I am still relatively new but I really love it when people tell me that they've enjoyed my posts or that my reviews/recommendations were really helpful. It really makes my day! I also love all the friendships that I've made and I am alway so grateful when I get to read books before they are published. :)

Question of the Week: Have you ever been to BEA? If not, what's stopping you? If you have, what was your best experience there? - Suggested by The Paperback Princess.

For those who are not familiar with BEA, it is Book Expo America. It's the largest publishing convention in the US and one of the largest in the world. I've been to BEA three times. I loved it. I love walking the floor. I love the rush to get galleys (free books) when the floor opens in the morning. I love waiting in line to have authors sign your books, because you always meet people.

But mostly, I love seeing my friends there. The first year I went for the best. The subsequent two years, I went two see friends.

Sadly, I don't think I'll be goin to BEA this year. I'll miss seeing people, miss the books, and miss the wonders of New York. Another time, hopefully.

How about you?

Now for the Follow Fun!

With GFC going the way of the dodo bird for many bloggers, there is no better time to start following blogs via RSS feed. If you use a reader, it would be great if you followed my RSS directly.

  3. Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing. You can also grab the code if you would like to insert it into your posts.
  4. Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say "hi" in your comments and that they are now following you.
  5. If you are using WordPress or another CMS that doesn't have GFC (Google Friends Connect) state in your posts how you would like to be followed
  6. Follow Follow Follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don't just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don't say "HI"
  7. If someone comments and says they are following you, be a dear and follow back. Spread the Love...and the followers
  8. If you're new to the Follow Friday hop, comment and let me know, so I can stop by and check out your blog!

  5. BEA is on my bucket-list! Next year it's supposed to not be in NYC, though, but rather in Chicago. It will be farther for me to travel, possible with an extra flight, too, so I'll see.
    Have a fantastic Friday, Alison.

  12. Yeah, UK based here so unless I get my wish and move to the East Coast (hello White Plains you gloriously gorgeous place you) it's never gonna happen. :(
I've heard that rush for galleys can get quite ugly with some people just grabbing armfuls. Not sure I could deal with that!

  13. Your publish had provided me with another point of view on this topic. I had simply no strategy that things will most likely work in this form as well. Thank you for sharing your opinion.
