Feature and Follow Friday #257

Welcome to the Feature & Follow

Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers -- but you have to know -- the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!

How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools -- keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!

What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and ayou must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to Wordpress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don't have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed.

How To Become a Featured Blog?

We pick our featured blogs randomly each week from the blogs who participated the week before.

Please be sure to feature your e-mail address clearly on your blog. Either on the main blog, on a Contact page, or on an About Me page. If I can't find your email easily, I will choose a different blog to feature.

Our Feature - My Favorite Book Character

An interview with: Hermione Granger

**We're doing something different for FF this week, because we were having some trouble with the linky, so I wasn't able to select a feature in time. Next week should be back to normal.

1. When did you first become passionate about books?

Oh, that's so hard to know. When wasn't I? My mum and dad read to me from the day I was born. Mum said I started out loving to eat the pages, but pretty soon I loved turning the pages. I taught myself how to read when I was 3 or 4. As much as I loved being read to, mum and dad were a bit too fond of books about teeth cleaning for my taste.

2. What were your favorite books before you came to Hogwarts?

Mainly the traditional children's favorites, I suppose. I loved Charlotte's Web. I especially loved Matilda. Enid Blyton. The Hobbit. I loved The Secret Garden, The Westing Game, and Harriet the Spy. I didn't read many books about witches and wizards, funnily enough.

3. How has your reading changed since coming to Hogwarts?

Well, I spend quite a lot of time reading my textbooks, but I did that in primary school too, so that's not too different. In my free time, I usually read books written by witches and wizards, at least during the school year.

4. Wow! I hardly know anything about books written by witches and wizards other than textbooks. Tell me about them!

There are heaps! I've been reading the most fascinating works about the house-elf culture and the history of house-elves' interaction with wizards. Although it's mostly fascinatingly horrible. For fun, I occasionally read books about wizard interpretation of Muggle life, which is almost always hilarious. Plus...{Voice lowers to a whisper and face turns red}, a few romance novels, like The Mandrake's Kiss and Love at the Witching Hour. But don't tell anyone about that! Please!

5. My lips are sealed. What about when you're home with your parents? Any Muggle books you love now?

I feel like I've hardly had any time to be at home the past few summers. But I always try to get in a few books. I loved Watership Down and Animal Farm. I particularly like Dickens. His description of the deplorable condition of Victorian England has so many parallels to house-elves. I also love Margaret Atwood. Especially The Handmaid's Tale. I should try reading more Muggle books even when I'm at school. There just are too many books and too little time.

Question of the Week: If you can step into one characters shoes (in a book) and be them for a day who would it be and why? Also if you want to be creative, what scene? - Suggested by Seeing Night Book Reviews.

It would totally be Anna from Anna and the French Kiss. Not only would I get to go to boarding school in Paris, but I'd get to be with Etienne! A particular scene I'd like to experience is an early one for them - when he first shows her the Point Zero part of Paris.

Continuing the Harry Potter theme, I'd also love to step into Hermione's shoes. But mainly only for happy times. Maybe visiting Hogsmeade or Christmas at Hogwarts. Otherwise, her life is too dangerous.

I'll have to see if I can think of anything else.

How about you?

Now for the Follow Fun!

With GFC going the way of the dodo bird for many bloggers, there is no better time to start following blogs via RSS feed. If you use a reader, it would be great if you followed my RSS directly.

  3. Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing. You can also grab the code if you would like to insert it into your posts.
  4. Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say "hi" in your comments and that they are now following you.
  5. If you are using WordPress or another CMS that doesn't have GFC (Google Friends Connect) state in your posts how you would like to be followed
  6. Follow Follow Follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don't just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don't say "HI"
  7. If someone comments and says they are following you, be a dear and follow back. Spread the Love...and the followers
  8. If you're new to the Follow Friday hop, comment and let me know, so I can stop by and check out your blog!

Next Week's Question:

If you were to get a tattoo, what would it say or what would the graphic be? Or if you have a tattoo, share a picture and its meaning. - Suggested by Second Run Reviews.

  1. I love that interview with Hermione -- that's SO her, lol! I think, if anything, i'd like to be Hermione -- or anyone, really -- in Diagon Alley, but I ended up choosing something else altogether here: http://editingeverything.com/blog/2015/06/12/follow-and-feature-friday-6-what-character-would-you-like-to-be/

(Is it okay I posted a link like this? Or are we not linking today?)

  10. Oh, Alison, what a GREAT character interview! I love all the funny comments Hermione made! And, of course, she's one of my favorite characters, too! She's such a smart, resourceful witch, and very brave, as well. So I'm with you on this one!

As for Anna from "Anna and the French Kiss", I haven't gotten to that book yet. I definitely want to!! But. as Hermione herself said in your interview, "There just are too many books and too little time." Lol.

LOVE this post!! HAPPY FRIDAY!! : )
