BEA 2015 Recap

My fourth BEA was a unique one for me. I only went to one day - Friday, the last. It was also a very spur of the moment decision. I decided that I wanted to go on Wednesday and bought a plane ticket that left Thursday afternoon. So I hadn't done a lot of planning.

Still, the one day I was there was wonderful. I'm so glad I went. I wasn't as judicious as I've been the past few years about selecting books, since I was only there for one day. I ended up with 24 books in one day!

Here they are:

In this photo, I'm particularly intrigued by George, which has been getting tons of buzz. I finished Kissing Ted Callahan already. It was decent.

Everything Everything is one of the buzz books of the year. I'm also really interested in Dreams Things True.

The Patrick Ness book sounds great. And I was so lucky to be there in time to get a ticket for the Rainbow Rowell signing. I didn't have a paper copy of Fangirl before, so I'm super happy about this one.

I'm excited about all the books in this photo. City on Fire is the adult book that got loads of buzz. The Marvels is a new Brian Selznick book (author of Hugo Cabaret) that looks fabulous. I already finished the Meg Cabot book, which I really enjoyed except for one icky twist at the end.

I forgot to photograph this book with the others. But it deserves a place on its own. I'm so excited for a new Jennifer Donnelly book!

The sole photo I got with an author this year. Meg Cabot. Even better, we both look really good in this photo.

Javits Center

I have a fondness for Javits, as the only place I've ever attended BEA. I'm both happy and sad to see it move to Chicago next year. Happy because Chicago is closer, but sad because I love traveling to New York and I also love the glass modernity that is the Javits Center architecture.

Here are a few photos of the spectacle:

  3. CONGRATS on getting a Rainbow ticket! I missed out by five minutes! 24 books in one day is great! I did the three days and ended up with 20. I didn't want to grab anything that I wasn't going to read and I did really well. Great haul - the cover for The Lightening Queen caught my attention! Going to have to look into that one. Glad you had a good time at BEA!
