Sorry for the delay in posting more photos from my recent London trip. I was out of town again last week and now I have a particularly nasty cold. I'm literally hacking as I type this.
Here are photos of my trip to the Harry Potter Studio Tour at Leavesden Studios, which is a 20 minute train ride outside of London. I didn't realize it was so close. It looks like a nice suburb. I also have a photo of me from Platform 9 3/4 at King's Cross Station.
The Studio Tour was so cool! It was magical to see all the props and sets from the movies. It was even better that the tour had been redecorated for Christmas time.
There are a lot of photos in this post, but nothing compared to the number of photos I actually took. I'm pretty sure I took over 500 photos at the studio tour. I wouldn't be surprised if the number was closer to 1,000. I photographed everything. On an interesting note, my first trip to the UK back in 2001 when I was 19, was back in the film days. I spent 6 weeks in the UK and took only 5 rolls of film, for a grand total of 120 photos. Film was expensive and I was nothing if not cheap. Hard to believe I easily exceeded 6 weeks of photography in a few hours at the studio tour. On my mobile phone no less.>
Here are the photos:
The real space between platforms 9 and 10 doesn't have a wall between it. They put this little prop scene before the ticket station and apart from the train area. I lucked out that no one was there apart from an employee when I arrived. Usually it's packed with people waiting to get a photo.
The Great Hall. Decorated for Christmas
Harry's bed and the boys' dormitory
The Gryffindor Common room
The Invisibility Cloak. It has green lining to be a little green screen. BTW...that's an employee's hand. I didn't touch it.
This is the eagle/phoenix. I think it's part of Dumbledore's office but I can't remember.
Triwizard Cup I believe and the golden egg.
Flying car. This is a whole area of flying machines and a demonstration of green screen.
The Weasley's house
The Weasley's clock
The scene from DH with all the Death Eaters and Nagini
Delores Umbridge's kitties
I can feel the evil
The Knight Bus
The big school bridge
Drinking cold butterbeer in a very cold outside. I wish they had hot butterbeer! But I guess it's only at Orlando. How ironic.
A wizard bookstore!
The Weasley's joke shop
The Marauder's Map
This incredible model that they used for most of the Hogwarts exterior shop. It was huge and unbelievably detailed. All the itty bitty bricks are handpainted and were redone for each movie!
A bad photo of me and bad lighting, but gives you an idea of the scale of the model. But not that good of an idea. It was so huge!
