Feature and Follow Friday #106

Welcome to the Feature & Follow

Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers -- but you have to know -- the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!

How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools -- keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!

What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and you must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to Wordpress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don't have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed.

How To Become a Featured Blog?

We pick our featured blogs randomly each week from the blogs who participated the week before.

Please be sure to feature your e-mail address clearly on your blog. Either on the main blog, on a Contact page, or on an About Me page. If I can't find your email easily, I will choose a different blog to feature.

Our Feature -A Glass of Wine

1. When did you start blogging?

I have been blogging for about a year and a half now. My first review went up Jan 28, 2011 and was for Stolen by Lucy Christopher.

2. What is your favorite part of book blogging?

I have been introduced to so many wonderful novels that I may not have read if not for hearing about them through fellow bloggers. Getting to expand my reading pool has been a huge perk. The other is meeting all the wonderful bloggers. It's refreshing to interact with a group of people that love and appreciate reading as much as I do.

3. What is your favorite book(s)?

If I listed all my favourites we would be here forever. Here are just a few of my favourite titles:

The Harry Potter series by JK Rowling
Masque of the Red Death by Bethany Griffin
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson

4. What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?

I would say getting to chat with fellow book lovers, and authors. It's pretty surreal that I have gotten to interview some of my favourite authors for my blog and will never stop being awe inspiring.

Q: Christmas in July! Someone gives you a gift card for two books (whatever that costs). What two books will you buy?

Since I came up with this question, I suppose I'm obligated to stick by the rules and only choose two books. It's even harder because so many of the books I want to read right away are ones I already own but still haven't read or haven't been released yet. So here goes:

City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare

The UK Edition of Chamber of Lost Secrets by JK Rowling. I have all the other British editions of the HP series. And of course I own all the American editions. I prefer reading the books in their original, British editions

Now for the Follow Fun!

With GFC going the way of the dodo bird for many bloggers, there is no better time to start following blogs via RSS feed. If you use a reader, it would be great if you followed my RSS directly.

We have a new button, so update your blogs if you are used to doing this meme!

RULES

To join the fun and make new book blogger friends, just follow these simple rules:
  1. (Required) Follow the Follow My Book Blog Friday Hosts {Parajunkee & Alison Can Read}
  2. (Required) Follow our Featured Bloggers
  3. Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing. You can also grab the code if you would like to insert it into your posts.
  4. Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say "hi" in your comments and that they are now following you.
  5. If you are using WordPress or another CMS that doesn't have GFC (Google Friends Connect) state in your posts how you would like to be followed
  6. Follow Follow Follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don't just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don't say "HI"
  7. If someone comments and says they are following you, be a dear and follow back. Spread the Love...and the followers
  8. If you're new to the follow friday hop, comment and let me know, so I can stop by and check out your blog!

  18. Oh! I would love to have HP in the originals (I hate how they changed the slang and all for the American versions...readers learn a lot from reading and we can handle the British slang. At least I can).

  31. I'm just barely starting to read Cassandra Clare, but I'm liking her so far. I have almost all the British versions of the Harry Potter books as well! I just need the last one. My American versions got ruined in the rain, so I figure if I had to replace them I may as well go for the original version. Though I suppose that technically a couple of them are the Canadian version, but close enough - original covers and the original British lingo. Got 'em on eBay.

  51. I plan to buy the UK editions of the HP series! My German copies of the series one day disappeared. I still have no idea where they went. v_v' But at least I still own my audiobook copies. XD

Did they even change that many things in the "translation" from BE to AE? I remember an American blogger ranting about how they changed the title of the first book. There was a post about how the other novels should have been titled so that Americans could *understand* them, because OBVIOUSLY Philosopher's stone was too complicated. XD

I'm not sure how it is with fiction, but with cookbooks some of the recipes are way, way different from different countries, so it's like you're getting a whole other book with the same cover LOL. 1. On your own blog you create a post and on it you add the "Feature and Follow" button that is in this post. You see the code underneath the image? You just copy that and paste it in your post, if you have a blogger blog than you would paste it in the Edit HTML part.

Then you would just answer the weekly question you see in the post. This week's question is "Christmas in July! Someone gives you a gift card for two books (whatever that costs). What two books will you buy?"

After you publish your post, you copy the direct link for it and post it here in the linky list by selecting "Click here to enter" so others can click on your link and visit your post and follow your blog.

      I hope this helps.
