Feature and Follow Friday #255

Welcome to the Feature & Follow

Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers -- but you have to know -- the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!

How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools -- keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!

What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and ayou must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to Wordpress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don't have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed.

How To Become a Featured Blog?

We pick our featured blogs randomly each week from the blogs who participated the week before.

Please be sure to feature your e-mail address clearly on your blog. Either on the main blog, on a Contact page, or on an About Me page. If I can't find your email easily, I will choose a different blog to feature.

Our Feature - My Expanding Bookshelf

1. When did you start blogging?

I started blogging in February 2015, so I’m still fairly new and trying to figure things out.

2. What is your favorite part of book blogging?

My favourite part of blogging is meeting people who love reading. I love being able to chat with other bloggers about the books I read and fangirl over my favourites. I don’t really gr to do that in my life outside the blog.

3. What type of books do you mainly blog about?

I think I blog about any type of books. I like variety and I don’t want to bore myself with reading the same genre all the time. But I have noticed that a lot of the books I have read since starting my blog are YA.

4. What are your favorite books?

There’s just so many. Special mentions would be Harry Potter – I would not be the reader that I am today if it wasn’t for Harry. And also The Princess Bride by William Goldman – this book has so many great childhood memories attached to it.

5. What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?

Being able to share my reading experiences with other bloggers and receiving recognition from authors for my reviews. It also shows that I’m not alone in my fangirling over books!

Question of the Week: How many books have you got on your TBR list? - Suggested by Obsessive Compulsive Reader.

I don't keep a firm TBR list. I know a lot of people use Goodreads to keep track of their TBR books. I don't like doing that, because I've found it makes it difficult for me to keep track of the when I finished the book, because the date that is marked on Goodreads is the date I added it to a TBR list, not when I finished it. Of course, I could manually enter when I finished it but that is far too much effort :-).

The closest I come to a TBR list is putting stuff on hold at the library. In general, I have so many unread books at my house that I don't need to put anything on a TBR list. Not that it stops me from picking up new books as I hear about them from bloggers or podcasts.

How about you?

Now for the Follow Fun!

With GFC going the way of the dodo bird for many bloggers, there is no better time to start following blogs via RSS feed. If you use a reader, it would be great if you followed my RSS directly.

Alison Can Read Feature & Follow

RULES

To join the fun and make new book blogger friends, just follow these simple rules:
  1. (Required) Follow the Follow My Book Blog Friday Hosts {Parajunkee & Alison Can Read}
  2. (Required) Follow our Featured Bloggers
  3. Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing. You can also grab the code if you would like to insert it into your posts.
  4. Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say "hi" in your comments and that they are now following you.
  5. If you are using WordPress or another CMS that doesn't have GFC (Google Friends Connect) state in your posts how you would like to be followed
  6. Follow Follow Follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don't just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don't say "HI"
  7. If someone comments and says they are following you, be a dear and follow back. Spread the Love...and the followers
  8. If you're new to the Follow Friday hop, comment and let me know, so I can stop by and check out your blog!

Next Week's Question:

How would you pitch to the biz to make your favorite book into a movie? - Suggested by Girl of 1000 Wonders.

  2. I don't use goodreads either for my tbr list. I use my kindle and group them in a "to read" list and I have a section on my bookshelf that I've put the ones I need to read in.
    Have a lovely weekend Alison.

  3. I normally talk about my 'tbr pile' by which I mean physical books I have that I need to read sometime. My 'wishlist' is the mental list of books that I would like to read sometime, and some of those I have listed on goodreads or amazon. Thanks for hosting the hop, Alison! :)

  4. Yeah that's true! I recently got myself a trunk to put all my TBR books in it. And yeah...it's full already! I use goodreads to a point but then I have been known to forget to mark a book as "to read" on there.

    Here's my Follow Friday

    Have a GREAT day!

  5. I'm constantly checking out books from the library even though I have dozens at home. I should really work on that...

  28. I consider my TBR to be books I already have on my shelf or kindle. Everything else is wishlist!

  29. I have a friend who hand writes her TBR list as well as all the books she has read. Now that's how I would define tedious as being. I'm in the same boat as you are. I have plenty of books at home to read, but I still go to the library to request new books.

I love comments. I appreciate every one! Thank you in advance.
