Feature and Follow Friday #94

Welcome to the Feature & Follow

Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers -- but you have to know -- the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!

How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools -- keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!

What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and you must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to Wordpress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don't have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed.

Hi! My name is Laura and I have been reading since before I could walk. Probably. I have always loved to read, and would actually get grounded from books because there was nothing else my mom could take away that would be seen as punishment, because then I would just go sit in my room and read. She still feels guilty about that!

I currently live in Florida with my fiance, 3 dogs, and a cat. I work with dogs, so the occasional post might be a funny story about a dog, but mostly its books. I like Paranormal/Fantasy/Sci-fi books. My theory is I am reading to escape, so why on earth would I want to read about something that actually happened?

Q: Have you had a character that disappointed you? One that you fell in love with and then "broke up" with later on in either the series or a stand-alone book? Tell us about him or her.

Hmmm...the only one that comes to mind immediately is Gale in The Hunger Games. Also Kaname in Vampire Knight. There were times in Twilight that I really hated what Bella, Jacob, and Edward were doing, but it never changed my overall feelings for them.

Now for the Follow Fun!

With GFC going the way of the dodo bird for many bloggers, there is no better time to start following blogs via RSS feed. If you use a reader, it would be great if you followed my RSS directly.

We have a new button, so update your blogs if you are used to doing this meme!

  4. Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say "hi" in your comments and that they are now following you.
  5. If you are using WordPress or another CMS that doesn't have GFC (Google Friends Connect) state in your posts how you would like to be followed
  6. Follow Follow Follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don't just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don't say "HI"

  2. Great post!! By the end of the Hunger Games series I also wasn't a huge fan of Gale.

    Happy Friday!!

  5. I never liked Gale, he was too whiny! :-)

Thanks so much for featuring me! :-)

  6. Agree with Gale. He just never really stood out to me. I only got up to volume 9 of Vampire Knights, but I didn't really like Kaname either. I definitely root for Zero!

  7. I am a huge Gale fan, I never liked Peeta. My answer was Edward from Twilight so we have this in common.

    Thanks for stopping by :)

  8. I LOVED Gale!! He is my favorite in the series. I was mad that they tried to make him kinda bad in the end. Anyways have a great weekend. and thanks for stopping by. I am an old follower.

  9. I was thinking about Gale but I really liked him and always had a bit of a soft spot for him regardless. Aw I wished his story had turned out better.

    Anyway, happy Friday!

  10. Haha Edward totally disappointed me! Post up at 12:01!

  11. I agree about Gale. I didn't start off with the highest opinion of him, but it just kept sinking as the series went on. I wanted to punch him throughout most of Mockingjay.

I'd also agree on Edward, Bella and Jacob, but honestly, I started that series with pretty low expectations for them.

    Here's my FF post.

I chose Gale as well :)

  13. I never cared for Gale. But I agree about Bella, Edward and Jacob. Bella would really piss me off when she was promising things to Edward and kissing him one second and then the next she was kissing Jacob. However, I will always love each one of them.

  14. Oh you're right I didn't think of Kaname but it's the same for me mainly with the last books, it was so nice at first and now I don't understand anymore.

  15. Hopping through. I agree about Bella. I think she lacks solid persona, but honestly speaking, I hate being too judgmental toward any characters. Thanks for stopping by!

  16. I'm actually not a fan of the hunger games and only read the first one. I completely agree with the issue on Bella though.

    Happy Friday!

  19. I can't tell you that I know this books. But the Twilight books I really know (I read them for 6 or 7 times, I was addicted) and I can tell you that I sometimes really hated these characters but that was sometimes. Because I think I am still a big fan (after reading them to much)

    Happy Friday!

  22. Thanks for stopping by my blog! It really means so much to gear from you every week! I agree about Gale. One of my students and I talker about him yesterday and he started out so amazing but he just turned cold. I guess you can't blame him though considering all he went through.

  23. I see what you mean about Gale, he did change but I still feel sorry for him rather than dislike him. Thanks for stopping by!

  24. Seeing a lot of the Hunger Games from Gale to Katniss. Don't think I'll be reading these anytime soon.

  25. I agree with Gale, there was never a doubt in my mind that Peeta was better for Katniss! I love Twilight, but you're right the love triangle was a little heavy and off here (made it real weird when Jacob inprinted:)

    Liza’s FF.

  26. I felt the better man--Peeta--won. Gale got on my nerves.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I first wanted to choose Twilight as well, but wasn't sure who exactly I liked better. So left that one alone. I would also have to agree Peeta is better. Great question!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Gale in Mockingjay right? *sigh*. I had such high hopes for him.

There were times too that I wanted to smack Bella, and definitely wanted to purposefully trip Jacob, but Edward could do no wrong in my book LOL.

No problem (skimming my answer bec you plan to read the series). I should probably have included some sort of spoiler warning. Then again, can't really answer the question without at least a little spoiler.
    Happy Friday!

I feel the same way about Gale. Loved him in the beginning of book one, and then it just went downhill throughout the rest of the trilogy.

  37. Gale is a good answer for this question! I just wanted more from him in that last book, but that was also true for Katniss as well. She seemed a little weak to me at the end, not the same girl that held up those berries in book 1, but who could really blame her right? Happy Friday Alison!

I so agree with your choice of Gale! I'm so not a Gale fan and for the same reasons why you probably dumped his butt :) Of course, the Twilight trio will always drive you nuts at some point in the series, too, that's a given (but I'm a closet fan!).

  55. I felt pretty ambivalent towards Gale throughout the entire HG series. It was almost as if he was only there to create a love triangle. Hmmm. Never really thought about it before.

  56. Now taht I think about it, Gale did disappoint me in the end. The ending overall just disappointed me.

  57. Ah Twilight! I was toying with that but then I never liked the characters to begin with so it wouldn't have counted. Well, I didn't dislike Jacob as he was the only rounded character but I hated how he got turned into a paedo at the end so all of the characters could have their happily ever after. Yeugh!
