Manga Mondays #172: Manga New Year Goals

Manga Mondays Meme

It's been far too long since I've done a Manga Mondays. I'm going to try to get back into the habit.

I've been doing Manga Mondays every week since I started my blog more than 3 years ago. It started out as a personal feature, but I decided to turn it into a meme last year. There are quite a few people who do Manga Mondays. I don't claim by any means that I owned or created the idea of Manga Mondays - it's an obvious choice given the alliteration. I think a meme is a great way for everyone to publicize their own Manga Mondays and get a little more publicity.

The linky will be below my review.

Do you have any Manga reading goals for 2014?

My main goal is to finish reading numerous manga series. I have a bad habit of reading a volume or two of a series, really liking it, and never getting around to reading more. I'd like to focus on finishing up several series, particularly Nana, Boys Over Flowers, Death Note, Full Metal Alchemist, and a few others. I'd also like to read Ouran High School Host Club and Bakuman, amongst others. And of course, there are the latest volumes of my favorite series Skip Beat, Vampire Knight, and Dengeki Daisy to pick up.

In conjunction with reading more is posting more. I've become inconsistent with my Manga Mondays posts. That's something I really need to fix. A big goal.

What volumes or series do you want to read in 2014?

  1. I'm currently on volume 7 of Dengeki Daisy, so my goal is to get to the latest volume that is currently out. I have to admit, though, I think 15 volumes is a bit much for this particular manga. I am already growing a little bit bored (and impatient for them to finally kiss, haha!).

  2. I'm not sure what I'm going to read this year manga wise. I'm sort of a random manga reader. I really should go back and see if I need to finish off any series.

  3. I'm a bit behind with my manga too, but it's the interlibrary loan system from the library that's slowing me down. I hope I get my next batch of books soon!

  4. I don't have manga reading goals for 2014 since I already finished the ones I like to read and the others are still ongoing. But right now I'm rereading a favorite manga and I feel like rereading more of them favorites after this one, so I guess I can put "reread favorite manga" as a 2014 goal.

  5. My favorite all-time manga is Skip Beat, but I'm so sad at how sloooow the story is developing, even now when it's been more than 10 years. Still, I looove it! Better get to that :)

I've finished most of what you said. I recommend holding out on Nana, it's been on hiatus since 2009. Unless you're okay being left hanging. I'm curious to know your thoughts on the ending of Death Note, Boys Over Flowers, and especially Vampire Knight.

  6. I have just gotten into Manga over the last couple of weeks. My friend recommended I start with Fruits Basket, and I have really enjoyed the first two volumes! I think I may try and join in this meme, now that I have realized that I really enjoy Manga! =)
