Feature and Follow Friday #152

Welcome to the Feature & Follow

Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers -- but you have to know -- the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!

How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools -- keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!

What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and you must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to Wordpress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don't have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed.

How To Become a Featured Blog?

We pick our featured blogs randomly each week from the blogs who participated the week before.

Please be sure to feature your e-mail address clearly on your blog. Either on the main blog, on a Contact page, or on an About Me page. If I can't find your email easily, I will choose a different blog to feature.

Our Feature - Read. Sleep. Repeat.

1. When did you start blogging?

I actually started blogging November of last year, so I'm still pretty wet behind the ears.

2. What is your favorite part of book blogging?

I'm going to cheat here and say my TWO favorite things. 1. is all the other bookish people I've met who've become great friends of mine. 2. Is seeing how my reading taste has changed now that my focus has shifted for my reviews.

3. What type of books do you mainly blog about?

So far I mostly do blog post about YA books but next week I'm going to start my "Reading After Dark" post which will feature a few PNR, Romance, NA....the steamy stuff!

4. What is your favorite book(s)?

Today my favorite books are:

Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake
Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
Frost Burned by Jeaniene Frost

5. What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?

The best thing by a landslide are my friends! I've finally met people who understand my bookish gargen and who (instead of saying SHUT UP!) gush and rant with me! But they aren't just bookish friends, they are the sweetest, funniest, bestest friends I could ask for. And I adore them. (hint hint, Chrys, Meagan, Shannon, Kelly, Nancy, Tamara, and Stephanie!)

Q: Have you broken up with a series? If so which one and why

I can think of several...Fallen by Lauren Kate, Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick, and Shade by Jeri Smith-Ready. I didn't hate any of these, but they didn't capture me enough to continue on.

Now for the Follow Fun!

With GFC going the way of the dodo bird for many bloggers, there is no better time to start following blogs via RSS feed. If you use a reader, it would be great if you followed my RSS directly.

We have a new button, so update your blogs if you are used to doing this meme!

Alison Can Read Feature & Follow

RULES

To join the fun and make new book blogger friends, just follow these simple rules:
  1. (Required) Follow the Follow My Book Blog Friday Hosts {Parajunkee & Alison Can Read}
  2. (Required) Follow our Featured Bloggers
  3. Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing. You can also grab the code if you would like to insert it into your posts.
  4. Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say "hi" in your comments and that they are now following you.
  5. If you are using WordPress or another CMS that doesn't have GFC (Google Friends Connect) state in your posts how you would like to be followed
  6. Follow Follow Follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don't just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don't say "HI"
  7. If someone comments and says they are following you, be a dear and follow back. Spread the Love...and the followers
  8. If you're new to the follow friday hop, comment and let me know, so I can stop by and check out your blog!

Next Week's Question:
Activity: Spine Poetry. Create a line of poetry with your book spines (take a picture). Not feeling creative? Tell us about your favorite poem.

  1. I completely understand not being captured enough to finish. Most of the time I just wait until there are a few more and I do keep reading. It's actually hard for me to give up entirely on a series, but it does happen sometimes. I will admit to loving the Fallen series though. I'm sorry it wasn't one you enjoyed. 2. I haven't started any of those yet. It's always a shame when it just doesn't hold your attention any longer, especially when you were looking forward to it. Old follower :)

  6. I loved Hush Hush and ALMOST gave up on the Fallen Series which I was glad I didn't because the last book was awesomesauce and honestly the only good one in the series in my personal opinion. Thank you for sharing and I'm sorry those books/ series didn't work out for you.

  7. Fallen by Lauren Kate was definitely a series that I temporarily broke up with, but I eventually went back to finish the series off.

    Thanks for stopping by! xox

  8. I haven't read any of those yet, lol. I have heard a lot of people say they weren't too impressed with the Hush Hush series. I couldn't really think of a series I have broken up with, although the Sookie series might end up being my answer after I read the last two books of the series.

  10. Fallen and Hush, Hush those are angel books right... awww I hope you don't lose hope on angel book because there are some pretty good ones out there. If you've not read Unearthly series by Cynthia Hand or Angelfall by Susan Ee yet, then check them out. They are so good and I'm sure you will like them =)

  11. I completely agree with Hush Hush. It wasn't bad, but it just didn't make me want to rush and buy the sequel.

  12. I understand what you mean! It's happened to me before when a book just doesn't capture my attention enough to finish it and/or the series.

  14. I read Fallen and Hush, Hush and only made it halfway through the series. Although for me, we are more on a break. I loved these books! At the time when I read them I read all the books that had been released and just never picked up the new ones. One day I will read them all but I've got other books higher on my list!

  26. I haven't read either of those series, but I don't think I'd enjoy them. I try to be selective when I start a series because I have so many to finish already! If I'm not captured by the first book, I won't read any others in the series.
