Feature and Follow Friday #152

Welcome to the Feature & Follow

Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers -- but you have to know -- the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!

How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools -- keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!

What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and you must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to Wordpress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don't have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed.

How To Become a Featured Blog?

We pick our featured blogs randomly each week from the blogs who participated the week before.

Please be sure to feature your e-mail address clearly on your blog. Either on the main blog, on a Contact page, or on an About Me page. If I can't find your email easily, I will choose a different blog to feature.

Our Feature - Read. Sleep. Repeat.

1. When did you start blogging?

I actually started blogging November of last year, so I'm still pretty wet behind the ears.

2. What is your favorite part of book blogging?

I'm going to cheat here and say my TWO favorite things. 1. is all the other bookish people I've met who've become great friends of mine. 2. Is seeing how my reading taste has changed now that my focus has shifted for my reviews.

3. What type of books do you mainly blog about?

So far I mostly do blog post about YA books but next week I'm going to start my "Reading After Dark" post which will feature a few PNR, Romance, NA....the steamy stuff!

4. What is your favorite book(s)?

Today my favorite books are:

Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake
Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
Frost Burned by Jeaniene Frost

5. What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?

The best thing by a landslide are my friends! I've finally met people who understand my bookish gargen and who (instead of saying SHUT UP!) gush and rant with me! But they aren't just bookish friends, they are the sweetest, funniest, bestest friends I could ask for. And I adore them. (hint hint, Chrys, Meagan, Shannon, Kelly, Nancy, Tamara, and Stephanie!)

Q: Have you broken up with a series? If so which one and why

I can think of several...Fallen by Lauren Kate, Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick, and Shade by Jeri Smith-Ready. I didn't hate any of these, but they didn't capture me enough to continue on.

Now for the Follow Fun!

With GFC going the way of the dodo bird for many bloggers, there is no better time to start following blogs via RSS feed. If you use a reader, it would be great if you followed my RSS directly.

We have a new button, so update your blogs if you are used to doing this meme!

Alison Can Read Feature & Follow

To join the fun and make new book blogger friends, just follow these simple rules:
  1. (Required) Follow the Follow My Book Blog Friday Hosts {Parajunkee & Alison Can Read}
  2. (Required) Follow our Featured Bloggers
  3. Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing. You can also grab the code if you would like to insert it into your posts.
  4. Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say "hi" in your comments and that they are now following you.
  5. If you are using WordPress or another CMS that doesn't have GFC (Google Friends Connect) state in your posts how you would like to be followed
  6. Follow Follow Follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don't just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don't say "HI"
  7. If someone comments and says they are following you, be a dear and follow back. Spread the Love...and the followers
  8. If you're new to the follow friday hop, comment and let me know, so I can stop by and check out your blog!

Next Week's Question:
Activity: Spine Poetry. Create a line of poetry with your book spines (take a picture). Not feeling creative? Tell us about your favorite poem.

I have an updated CAPTCHA post!

If you have CAPTCHA word verification enabled on your blog, please take it off. It makes it much more difficult for readers to comment. Please look at my CAPTCHA Eradication Post to learn how to get rid of it.

  1. I completely understand not being captured enough to finish. Most of the time I just wait until there are a few more and I do keep reading. It's actually hard for me to give up entirely on a series, but it does happen sometimes. I will admit to loving the Fallen series though. I'm sorry it wasn't one you enjoyed. Old follower Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven.

  2. I haven't started any of those yet. It's always a shame when it just doesn't hold your attention any longer, especially when you were looking forward to it. Old follower :)

    Traci @ Mad Hatter Reads

  3. I have book one of Hush, Hush on my kindle, but haven't gotten to it yet. Great list! :D

    My FF

    1. DON'T DO IT! Out of the hundreds of books I've read Hush Hush is #2 on my holy-crap-I-wasted-my-life-on-this list.

  4. Sorry you didn't enjoy Hush Hush. That's one of my favorite series. Think I've read it about four times.

    Marilyn @ Marilyn's Mystery Blog

  5. I have only read the first book in the Hush Hush series. I liked it but never took the time to finish the series!

    Angela's Anxious Life

  6. I loved Hush Hush and ALMOST gave up on the Fallen Series which I was glad I didn't because the last book was awesomesauce and honestly the only good one in the series in my personal opinion. Thank you for sharing and I'm sorry those books/ series didn't work out for you.

    Reese's @Reese's Reviews: MA2F

  7. Fallen by Lauren Kate was definitely a series that I temporarily broke up with, but I eventually went back to finish the series off.

    Thanks for stopping by! xox

  8. I haven't read any of those yet, lol. I have heard a lot of people say they weren't too impressed with the Hush Hush series. I couldn't really think of a series I have broken up with, although the Sookie series might end up being my answer after I read the last two books of the series.

My FF @ Donnie Darko Girl

  9. I just got Fallen from the library. It is so big that it's intimidating so I hope I can keep with it lmao.

    Old Follower,
    Becky @ Book Bite Reviews

  10. Fallen and Hush, Hush those are angel books right... awww I hope you don't lose hope on angel book because there are some pretty good ones out there. If you've not read Unearthly series by Cynthia Hand or Angelfall by Susan Ee yet, then check them out. They are so good and I'm sure you will like them =)

    Old Follower
    Amie @Magic of Words

    1. ohh I forgot, there is one problem with Unearthly though. It's the love triangle (I am not a fan here) but if you are ok with it then check it out

  11. I completely agree with Hush Hush. It wasn't bad, but it just didn't make me want to rush and buy the sequel.

  12. I understand what you mean! It's happened to me before when a book just doesn't capture my attention enough to finish it and/or the series.
    My FF

  13. I finished the Hush, Hush series.... only cos I had to see how it all turned out!!

    Here's My FF!

  14. I read Fallen and Hush, Hush and only made it halfway through the series. Although for me, we are more on a break. I loved these books! At the time when I read them I read all the books that had been released and just never picked up the new ones. One day I will read them all but I've got other books higher on my list!

    Amber @Nala's Book Corner

  15. Always heard mixed things on Fallen so I stayed away from that one myself!

    Here's my Follow Friday

    Have a GREAT weekend!

    Old Follower :)

  16. I made a list too and Hush Hush was on it. I haven't read Fallen, but I've stared at the cover a bunch contemplating starting it up. Old follower here. Have a great Friday! Here's my FF.

  17. The same thing happened to me! I read the first two books of each series, and stopped reading them after that. I may or may not read the rest in the future.

    Check out My FF :)

    Jackie @Jackie's Book World

  18. I liked the fallen series but never get a chance to read the last one :( Sorry to hear that you broke up with this serie.

    My FF
    Have a nice day!

  19. Fallen's also on my list! I liked the first two books but the third was a meh and the last was DNF. :/

    Michelle, The Escapist.

  20. I haven’t read any of these series. Sorry to hear you lost interest along the way. :(

    Old Follower.

My FF @ The Creative Forum
    Happy Reading! :)

  21. I quit Fallen too:( It just became so boring!

    My (first ever) FF:

  22. I really miss being able to read some of the books I used to love. Hope you have a wonderful Friday!

Here's my link if you'd like to stop by: Vicariously!

  23. Alison great answer, I really should have put Hush, Hush and Fallen by I didn't really look into those as a breakup but a short "break" that hopefully we can fix LOL but I do feel that way about the Fallen series and Hush, Hush.

    My Follow Friday

    Have a great weekend!

  24. I have broken up with Hush, Hush also. And I'm actually glad I'm seeing so many put up Hush, Hush. I thought lots of people loved it.

    my FF!

    ~Stephanie @ Bookfever

  25. I haven't read any of the series you mentioned yet, but I did bought Hush Hush recently so I may give that a try. I kinda broke up with the 50 shades trilogy.

I also started following you today :) You have a lovely blog.

    My (first ever) FF:

  26. I haven't read either of those series, but I don't think I'd enjoy them. I try to be selective when I start a series because I have so many to finish already! If I'm not captured by the first book, I won't read any others in the series.

Emma @ From the Writer’s Nest

  27. I haven't read those books it seems interesting but I am know thinking it over if I will buy :))

    Thanks for this!

    Fahima @ I Read, Ergo I Write

  32. Cool feature, great question this week as always. I agree about Hush, Hush but I still want to give it a try later on. A lot of people say the same thing about Fallen, though. Jeez maybe its not that great :(

  33. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I have seen Hush, hush a lot. Thanks kinds why I haven't picked it up.
Brittany @ Spare Time Book Blog

  34. I haven't heard great things about the Fallen series..though it has a great cover I think it's a pass for me!

  35. This sounds like a good series.

  36. Ah yes, Fallen. I read all of them right up till the 3rd one. Tried reading the 4th and just couldn't get into it. Couldn't stand Luce and Daniel's relationship anymore.

    Old follower!

    Nyx @ Unraveling Words

  37. I couldn't finish Fallen or Hush Hush so I understand your answer. I still need to read Shade, but it is on the low priority list at the moment. Old follower.

    Happy Friday!

  38. New to this!!

    Here's a link to my first FF-->

  39. I agree with Fallen and Hush Hush. Both series couldn't hold my attention long enough. I think that's the reason why a lot of people break up with series.

  40. Hi! I've seen so much of Hush Hush! I've seen maybe about 3 or 4 of that.

This is my first FF :)

    Sarah @ Bubbly & Bookish

  41. I haven't read any of these series yet. Although, I do have at least the first book in all 3.

  42. online casino
I read all of them right up till the 3rd one. Tried reading the 4th and just couldn't get into it.

  43. You wound me miss. You've broken up with two series that are sitting on my TBR shelves, lol. *sadface*

Here's what I've broken up with:

    Old Follower

  44. New follower here! I feel the same way about Fallen by Lauren Kate. I enjoyed but I found other books that I enjoyed more and wanted to invest more of my time on. I might get to the rest of the series sometime in the future. When I have more time.

    Here's mine!

  45. Visiting back. Old follower! I can't believe you got a nasty comment on a Jacky Faber review. I didn't realize that series had fans like that. I listen to them on audio and they are excellent that way (highly recommended).

  46. Hopping through. I agree with you. If I'm not instantly grabbed by the first book I won't bother with the rest. Old follower.

  47. I totally forgot about Fallen series! Puff. Thanks for dropping through my FF.

    Nina @ The Bookish Confections

  48. Even though we are not on this hop, we have always loved your site!

Completely broke up with The Hunger Games after Mockingjay!

    I'd So Rather Be Reading
    Nutrition with Nat

  49. Okay, this is a little confusing but I guess I'll get a hang of this once I start!

  50. Happy Friday! Hope you have a great weekend :)

  51. I honestly don't know why people like Hush Hush. I just don't.

I love comments. I appreciate every one! Thank you in advance.
