Feature and Follow Friday #164

Welcome to the Feature & Follow

Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers -- but you have to know -- the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!

How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools -- keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!

What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and you must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to Wordpress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don't have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed.

How To Become a Featured Blog?

We pick our featured blogs randomly each week from the blogs who participated the week before.

Please be sure to feature your e-mail address clearly on your blog. Either on the main blog, on a Contact page, or on an About Me page. If I can't find your email easily, I will choose a different blog to feature.

Our Feature - I Read, Ergo I Write

I Read, Ergo I Write

1. When did you start blogging?

I've been blogging for about 4 years now, but I started book blogging only last November.

2. What is your favorite part of book blogging?

I love the interaction with so many different people from all over the world! It's so crazy that I get to fangirl over a book with a complete stranger! And I love the direct interaction that we get to have with authors.

3. What type of books do you mainly blog about?

Mainly Young Adult, with a bit of quirky non-fiction and general fiction thrown into the mix :)

4. What is your favorite book(s)?

Aah... everyone asks this (and a few books change every time)! Okay, The Blue Castle by L M Montgomery, Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen, the Harry Potter series, and currently, On The Island by Tracey Garvis-Graves.

5. What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?

My relationship with books has gone to a whole new level since I started book blogging. I've always been an avid reader ever since I could read, but blogging has made me look at books a whole lot differently, and I'm also reading SO many more books now than I ever did!

Q: If you could only have ONE – one book – for the rest of your life. Don’t cheat…what would it be?

I love this question, even though it's pure torture. One book....One book...I think I'm going to go with Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. As much as I love Deathly Hallows, Prisoner of Azkaban remains my favorite book. I think it's the memory of how shocked I was with the big reveal of who Lupin and Sirius really were - arguably, it should have been obvious given all the symbolism but I read it with a very surface level attitude the first time.

Now for the Follow Fun!

With GFC going the way of the dodo bird for many bloggers, there is no better time to start following blogs via RSS feed. If you use a reader, it would be great if you followed my RSS directly.

We have a new button, so update your blogs if you are used to doing this meme!

Alison Can Read Feature & Follow

RULES

To join the fun and make new book blogger friends, just follow these simple rules:
  1. (Required) Follow the Follow My Book Blog Friday Hosts {Parajunkee & Alison Can Read}
  2. (Required) Follow our Featured Bloggers
  3. Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing. You can also grab the code if you would like to insert it into your posts.
  4. Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say "hi" in your comments and that they are now following you.
  5. If you are using WordPress or another CMS that doesn't have GFC (Google Friends Connect) state in your posts how you would like to be followed
  6. Follow Follow Follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don't just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don't say "HI"
  7. If someone comments and says they are following you, be a dear and follow back. Spread the Love...and the followers
  8. If you're new to the follow friday hop, comment and let me know, so I can stop by and check out your blog!

  6. It's a bit of a dark horse, but I'd have to go with Singer from the Sea by Sherri S Tepper. I don't know why, but I just keep re-reading that one. Plus it's kinda long, which would be nice.

  10. Happy Friday!!! One book for the rest of my life? Maybe Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, or The Deadly Hollows.

    Tough decision!

  11. If I had just one HP book to choose... mine would probably be The Half Blood Prince. Or Order of the Phoenix. Oh, crap, I can't just pick one. As I'm a huge Lupin fan, book 3 would make a great choice too... ;)

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

  12. I will have to agree with other comments. Where this is my favorite of the series too, I would need all 7 books if that was all I could keep.

  14. See... it's so hard to pick one book, because most of them are part of a series and you want the next book in the series too! Great question though.

  26. That is an hard answer. I have to choose my bible. I know it may sound lame, but that book has done wonders for me and my family.

  27. Oh right! Oh Alison, we have been sisters during our past lives. I was really contemplating between POA and Deathly Hallows. Although POA remains my number 1 HP book, going back there is still painful. I would always be reminded of my fallen beloved Sirius Black. At least with Deathly Hallows, I'd be reminded that he came back young and whole even if it's for a brief moment.

  29. Hey Alison! A new follower and FF participant here. :-) Love this week's question - so hard. I too adore the Harry Potter series. Too hard to choose a favorite though. I can't wait to read the books aloud with my daughter when she gets a bit older.

  34. As much as I love HP, there's no way I could just be satisfied with one. I would have to have the whole series with me and that would be cheating. Have a great weekend Alison and thanks for stopping by!

  35. I noticed a lot of people said the HP books.

I have NO idea what book I would choose. That sounds like a nightmare to me. Only having one book lol

    ReplyDelete
  36. HP is on a lot of lists... but you chose the one I would have chosen, if I really had to choose just one.

I'm too greedy though and opted for a non-series book. I just would miss the other HPs too much, LOL!

  37. Great choice! It's hard for me to choose a single book of a series because I'd long to read the whole series and not just one book. That was my dilemma in my answer so I went with the classic Pride and Prejudice ;-)
I haven't heard of that one. I love books that provoke new thoughts! (don't we all??)

I just wish all the HP book could be in one volum so I could have picked that because I would just be happy for the rest of my life if that were the only book I could read.
