Welcome to the Feature & Follow
Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers -- but you have to know -- the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.
The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!
How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools -- keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!
What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and you must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to Wordpress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don't have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed.
How To Become a Featured Blog?
We pick our featured blogs randomly each week from the blogs who participated the week before. Please be sure to feature your e-mail address clearly on your blog. Either on the main blog, on a Contact page, or on an About Me page. If I can't find your email easily, I will choose a different blog to feature.
Our Feature - Insightful Minds Reviews
I started blogging in November of 2011.
2. What is your favorite part of book blogging?
I actually have two favorite parts. Sharing my thoughts with other people who love books as much as I do. & the interaction with Authors that comes from blogging! Oh! & the awesome friends you make in the blogging world. I have met some AMAZING people - bloggers and authors alike! So I guess that's actually 3 things - but oh well :p
3. What type of books do you mainly blog about?
In the beginning I mainly stuck to Romantic Suspense. Nowadays I have grown and blog about Ya, NA, Romance of all kinds, Paranormal -- basically everything except historical fiction. I am not a big fan of this genre. I love being as open with it as I am now. I have read things in the past year that I normally never would have picked up.
4. What is your favorite book(s)?
My favorite book of all time is Summer Sisters by Judy Blume. It is one of her "adult books" and I loved every single part of it. If you haven't read this book, I very much urge you to do so!
5. What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?
The best thing that has happened to me is meeting the author/bloggers that I have met and getting to be a part of the conventions and other events that I was a part of. This world is def one of a kind and it's something else entirely to be a part of it! The opportunities you get from being a blogger, the connections you make and the bonds you form are completely one of a kind and I wouldn't trade any of it for anything!
Q: Tell us about the most emotional scene you've ever read in a book - and how did you react?
If we're going far back, the most emotional scene may be the end of Where The Red Fern Grows. I don't know anyone who's read that and not cried.
Bringing up the requisite Harry Potter reference - I've read the end of Deathly Hallows dozens of time and never fail to get teary.
Now for the Follow Fun!
With GFC going the way of the dodo bird for many bloggers, there is no better time to start following blogs via RSS feed. If you use a reader, it would be great if you followed my RSS directly. We have a new button, so update your blogs if you are used to doing this meme!

Excellent choices! I just cried and cried with Where the Red Fern Grows and I almost went with Deathly Hollows for my answer tonight. Hopping through :D Old follower
ReplyDeleteTraci @ Mad Hatter Reads
Ooh Deathly Hallows is a good one! I cried too! :D
ReplyDeleteMy FFs are at Musings on Fantasia and LKHill. Happy Friday! ;D
I listed 2 other books, but put the part in Harry Potter with Dobby as an aside. That had me balling my eyes out. Great answer as always! Here is my FF. Old follower :D Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven.
ReplyDeleteOh I could not agree with you more about Deathly Hallows! I picked not 1 but 2 moments in that specific HP book myself this week too :)
ReplyDeleteGreat answer & thanks for hosting!
Old follower.
Micheline @ Lunar Rainbows
I chose a Harry Potter book, but not Deathly Hallows. Although I did get very emotional throughout the whole book. But HP5 broke my heart. I still get all tense and nervous when I think about the ending.
ReplyDeleteI just love Where the Red Fern Grows, always a tearjerker for me. Good pick. Hope you are having a great week so far.
ReplyDeleteRenee@Addicted To Romance
Yes the Where the Red Fern grows. I remember crying when I read then book and then crying again when I saw the movie
ReplyDeleteConfession - I've never read Harry Potter, but based on the films, I can certainly guess at the sad scenes@
ReplyDeleteStephanie (Go Flash Go) @ Read, Rinse, Repeat
I haven't heard of the first one nor have I read the Harry Potter books, feeling super left out this week with those. Great question!!

Harry Potter is one of my answers too. I never read Where the Red Fern Grows. I probably knew/know I couldn't handle it.
ReplyDeleteI cannot stand sad or emotional books so I avoid them at all cost. I didn't finish Harry Porter series, I stopped at book 5 =/
ReplyDeleteSo sad about GFC will be canceled soon. Do you have bloglovin? A lot of bloggers use it for following (kinda replace for GFC)
Alison, you and Rachel picked the same book :D Now it's really got me intrigued how much of a tear jerker this book is.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Feature & Follow Friday
Have a great weekend!
Wow, I wasn't even teary in Harry Potter! Am I heartless? :))

great answer! I went back to an old book too.
ReplyDeleteMy FF
I've never read or even heard of Where the Red Fern Grows- I feel like I should have from all the comments! I have a suspicion it may have something in common with my chosen scene though, which involves a dog... And there really are so many teary moments in Deathly Hallows!
ReplyDeleteHere is my FF!
(Old follower :)
Ahh Where the Red Fern Grows had me in tears! I mentioned that one on my post as well!
ReplyDeleteAnd I refrained from mentioning Harry Potter because I mention it a lot! Lol. But I got teary eyed during several different parts in those books!

Awww, I think HP is going to be a big one today.
ReplyDeleteMy FF :)
I remember that scene... I have goosebumps just thinking about it again... I have no words for that scene.
ReplyDeleteWe are always picking the same books lol! Which is so funny...since on the surface we seem to have such different tastes.
ReplyDeleteI have the same opinion! Where the Red Fern grows is an amazing book! I think if I were to read it again I would still cry. Happy Friday!

Ooo this is a hard question this week! I think any scene in which an animal dies is hard for me, so cue the sobs at the end of Where the Red Fern Grows. I deal so much better with human deaths in books and movies than animal ones!
ReplyDeleteHarry Potter definitely gets me teary. Especially when Dobby, I can't even talk about it *sniff*

Awesome feature and great question this week. I like your answer too.

ReplyDeleteNew follower :) Here's my very first F&F : Maria's Bookshelf
Oh my gosh, Where the Red Fern Grows is killer! And the movie broke my heart too! Such a good choice! And of course there were so many moments in Harry Potter!
ReplyDeleteHm. Harry Potter and Where the Red Fern Grows.
ReplyDeleteI have not read Harry Potter but I love the movies!
Where the Read Fern Grows sounds sad. Will have to take a look at it!
Old follower via GFC :)
Old follower. You know, I can't even remember The Red Fern Grows. Though, I do agree with the HP references. For me, I hated how one character died in book four. That always got to me.
ReplyDeleteGosh... Yeah, I think Where the Red Fern Grows was probably one of the very first books that actually made me cry. I'd read it for school, and was pretty distraught that they were ALLOWED to make us cry with the reading curriculum, lol.
ReplyDeleteI've never read Where the Red Fern Grows. I'm not even sure if I've heard of it before (will go check it out after posting this!).
ReplyDeleteAnd I think all three of the last HP books make me cry. But I'm a wuss ;) Thanks for stopping by my FF earlier!
Haven't read the 1st book, but HP yes, there were so many instances that had me teary-eyed. I agree with you Harry walking into the forest and meeting Dumbledore, yes really emotional but it didn't really make me cry.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my FF!
I can't read the end of The Deathly Hallows without tearing up either.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my FF :)
Where the Red Fern grows was read out loud to us in 3rd grade. I cried right there in the middle of 20 odd 8 year olds. So incredibly sad.
ReplyDeleteOh Where the Red Fern Grows was so sad (and The Yearling!) -- great pick!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my FF
Eva @ All Books Considered
I never read Where the Red Fern Grows. It sounds like one of those reads that would never let go of me. Thanks for stopping by. Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteHmm... I've actually never read The Red Fern Grows. But, I'll have to check out. As for the Harry Potter reference, I've cried so many times - anytime I think of I can't. The end = an Emotional Roller-coaster for me. :'(

Never heard of Where The Red Fern Grows or read the Harry Potter novels.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my FF.
Where The Red Fern Grows is a good pick. The Harry Potter one gets me every time, too. It's not just what goes on in the book but ... that it was the end.

I also had to go for the last book of the Harry Potter series! I also cried like a baby when I realized that this was the true end of the end of the best book series ever!!

ReplyDeleteI haven't read Where the Red Fern Grows in a really long time, but it's one of those we will remember forever. As Is Deathly Hallows...that whole series wrecked me!
Both books are definitely memorable for making me cry, too. In school, after we finished reading the book, we watched the movie. Eep! I felt like they were torturing us or something.
ReplyDeleteThe Deathly Hallows definitely makes me cry every time. When I become a writer, I want to be able to give the reader that kind of emotional effect.

ReplyDeleteI cried and shouted when Snape's secrets were revealed. I was so heartbroken for him!
I was too! I liked Snape and had a feeling he wasn't the bad guy he was made out to be.
DeleteI'm starting to feel a bit weird cos I didn't read the Harry Potter books, and the one or two that I did read, I didn't get emotional at all! LOL.
ReplyDeleteHere's my FF post with the book I DID get all emotional in. :D
Yea, there are a lot of older books that make you cry....Old Yeller is another one. My son used to HATE when he had to read those books -- because they even make boys cry, and that isn't cool.
ReplyDeleteHarry Potter always gets to me as well. That book is so well written. Thanks for hopping by :)
ReplyDeleteoh yes i remember reading Where the Red Fern Grows in Middle School. soo sad, very emotional! thanks for checking out my FF! - Katie @ Inkk
ReplyDeleteStarting with book 4, I think I cried in every HP book :-) Thanks for stopping by my FF!
ReplyDeleteChelsea @ Starbucks & Books Obsession
Ah! The end of Deathly Hallows! *sigh* Trust me, EACH and EVERY one of those deaths made me so sad! I haven't heard of Where The Red Fern Grows, but it sounds great.

ReplyDeleteI read Where The Red Fern Grows back in 5th grade, and although I wasn't bawling like crazy, I did tear up a bit. My friends kept looking at me weird for getting so attached to a book. xD
