Feature and Follow Friday #140

Welcome to the Feature & Follow

Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers -- but you have to know -- the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!

How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools -- keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!

What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and you must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to Wordpress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don't have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed.

How To Become a Featured Blog?

We pick our featured blogs randomly each week from the blogs who participated the week before.

Please be sure to feature your e-mail address clearly on your blog. Either on the main blog, on a Contact page, or on an About Me page. If I can't find your email easily, I will choose a different blog to feature.

Our Feature - Cherie Reads

1. When did you start blogging?

I've been blogging in general for over 5 years. I used to have a product review blog. I've been book blogging since September 2012 and I'm loving every minute of it!

2. What is your favorite part of book blogging?

Sharing my love of books with others. None of my friends or family are book lovers like I am so I had no one to discuss what I was reading with. Joining the book blogging community allowed me to gush about favorite reads or cringe over the not-so-good ones with a group of people who understand and appreciate my ranting.

3. What type of books do you mainly blog about?

My reading tastes are pretty eclectic. I stay mostly to fiction but after that almost anything goes. I have a new love of New Adult and I'm a sucker for a good Dystopia, but I'll post about anything from Romance to Sci-Fi to Thriller and everything in between. I usually stay away from Erotica and Horror, though.

4. What is your favorite book(s)?

This question is so tough! My all-time favorite is probably The Princess Bride by William Goldman. It's fantasy and it's funny and just genius, in my opinion. More recent favorites include Hopeless by Colleen Hoover, The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay, And All the Stars by Andrea K. Höst and Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion.

5. What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?

Interacting with some amazing authors! Have you seen that t-shirt that says, "Authors are my rock stars?" That's how I feel and meeting them and having them actually talk to me or personally reply to emails is amazing.

Q: What is your guilty pleasure as far as reading? Is it a genre, or is it a certain type of book? .

All of my reading is pleasurable. None of it guilty.

If I had to choose something in the guilty genre, maybe it would be the adult historical romances that I've started reading - like Julia Quinn. But those are no more or less worthy of reading than many of my other books.

Another "guilty" pleasure? Maybe re-reading all my favorite books over and over - like Harry Potter or The False Prince by Jennifer Nielsen, which I read last week for the 3rd time. But I don't feel guilty about it.

Now for the Follow Fun!

With GFC going the way of the dodo bird for many bloggers, there is no better time to start following blogs via RSS feed. If you use a reader, it would be great if you followed my RSS directly.

We have a new button, so update your blogs if you are used to doing this meme!

Alison Can Read Feature & Follow

  3. Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing. You can also grab the code if you would like to insert it into your posts.
  4. Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say "hi" in your comments and that they are now following you.
  5. If you are using WordPress or another CMS that doesn't have GFC (Google Friends Connect) state in your posts how you would like to be followed
  6. Follow Follow Follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don't just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don't say "HI"

Historical romance is a guilty pleasure too! They're addicting because they're not too dramatic and make me pass the time without getting so emotionally involved. :)

  4. I don't feel guilty about anything that I read, either. I love JQ, but I think I've professed my love for on in your comments before, so I will contain myself this time :)

I used to read historical romance all the time. I don't much anymore (except JQ's books, of course), but I still have a very special place in my heart for them. And Julie Garwood, which I mentioned in my answer for today's question.

I also mentioned re-reading books. I love to read Spellbound by Cara Lynn Shultz. It's comforting somehow, even though I know it isn't a perfect book. Do you ever love reading books that you know need a little more work (maybe the dialog is little off, for example)?

  11. I don't feel that guilty over anything I read anymore either. I used to back when I was a teen and reading adult PNR. But if I had to pick a guilty pleasure now I usually say zombie fiction. I get weird looks for that one still sometimes :)

Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier!

    I'm Carmen Stefanescu from
    http://shadowspastmystery.blogspot.ro/
I signed to follow your blog a while ago. I'd be glad if you could honor mine, too.

I live in Romania, better known as Dracula's country. I am a teacher of English and German in my own town and country.
Would you be interested in read/review/bookspotlight/giveaway for my paranormal/historical romance Shadows of the Past?
My novel was released on 4th December as an e-book by Wild Child Publishing, USA. If the answer is affirmative I can send you a PDF provided by the publisher. It's not erotica, as all romance I write I keep at the sweet level. It has 230 pages.
    Summary ~from Goodreads~

When Anne and Neil leave on a one-week holiday hoping to reconcile after a two-year separation, little do they know that destiny has other plans for them. Their discovery of human bones and a bejeweled cross in the hollow of a tree open the door to the supernatural realm and the anguished life of Genevieve, a nun from medieval England.

Can Anne save her relationship and help Genevieve her eternal rest?

The twists and turns in this paranormal tale keep the reader guessing up to the end and weave themselves together into a quest to rekindle love.

Award winning author Paulette Mahurin says in the review she wrote for Shadows of the past," Carmen Stefanescu’s Shadows of the Past was a great read that I enjoyed from the first page through the last sentence, that I was sorry to see end.... an excellently crafted work, by an author who clearly knows how to write, who understands literature, and knows how to tell a compellingly great story....
