Questions of the Week:
Blog Hop: How do you spread the word about your blog? I use Twitter and Goodreads for a little blog publicity. But mostly I spread the word about my blog through participating in the blogger hops and by commenting on other people's blogs.
Follow Friday: What books have bitten you? Not to beat a dead horse, but...Twilight. Two years after first reading the series and I'm still obsessed. Also, the Harry Potter series. And Pride and Prejudice.
And also check out Parajunkee's Follow My Book Blog Friday.
I'm already a follower, just stopping by to say hi and see what is new.
ReplyDeleteHope you'll stop on by and enter my giveaways or sign up to join our Spooktacular Blog Hop.
Have a great weekend!

ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower. Wishing you a great weekend!
Stopping by through the hop and already a follower. To answer the question your asked me on my hop, for Canadian Thanksgiving we pretty much eat the same food as for the American one as far as I know. It's just a little over a month earlier.
ReplyDeleteHopping by your blog to say Hi! I am already a follower.

ReplyDeleteMy Hop
Thanks for stopping by my blog! I love Harry Potter too :) I would say that's the series that has "bitten" me the most. I'm a new follower as well :)

ReplyDeleteFellow layout user! :D I mostly use goodreads too (a small link at the top of my review).
I also still love Twilight <3 People shun me when I admit it, but it's so true. :) Love your display pic, btw. <3 Oh, and I'm a new follower -- I love that you review manga too! I haven't even thought about trying to review manga. :P
My hop :3

Alison,
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question, you just have to write through the suckage. I don't often go back to read what I wrote the day before. Maybe the last few sentences but that's all. I used to waste all my time rewriting and rewriting but I realized that doing that never got me further than the first chapter. So instead of rewriting, I told myself that I wasn't allowed to rewrite anymore. Then I plotted out the entire thing and actually just wrote. A first draft isn't supposed to be amazing... my first draft is wordy and terrible. That's what the second and third draft is for!
So yeah, just write through it. Don't dwell on what you just wrote, focus on what's coming out of your fingers next. Hope that helps!
Happy HOP!! I think we do the same thing. I did start using Goodreads but found by taking part in the weekly memes, it was a better way for me to meet people. Happy reading :)
ReplyDeleteCome HOP by my blog and visit

Hey Alison,
ReplyDeleteJust stopping by from the Hop. I'm the same I spread the word about my blog through memes and comments. I have a goodreads account as well but no twitter I'm still undecided.
Have a great weekend!
Hi! Just hopping through!!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I do pretty much what you do, although I have to say, for whatever reason, it always takes me FOREVER to find the place where I can update what page I'm on in a book in Good Reads. Sheeesh XD
Harry Potter was on my list too for the FF question :)
Stop by and check out my Book Blogger Hop, Follow Friday and Giveaway!
Hellooo! found your blog on the hop and am now a new follower :D
ReplyDeleteI didn't answer the FF question but I'm going to tell you here! The series that has bitten me are the Night Huntress novels by Jeanine Frost.. damn her! I'm on goodreads too but I mostly just use it to see how many books I've read LOL
Hop on over :D
Hi, I'm on the hop! :) Nice blog! its my first visit here, so I'll be browsing through a few of your posts.
ReplyDeleteHow do you post a review in Goodreads? I still haven't learnt how to copy my blog reviews to my GR.

You might be able to find through ILL.
ReplyDeleteBuying is a good option too-- Elizabeth is self published and all the buzz and sells she can get help her a lot.

http://silversolara.blogspot.com
Yep, blog hops and commenting are my primary means of connecting with other bloggers, though I have recently gotten into the Twitter thing and had some great exchanges with other bloggers on there as well :D
ReplyDeleteI agree in regards to Twilight. While the three sequels aren't my favorites, Twilght is one of those books I need to have with me. An example? I moved to LA for a while and because I couldn't bring my signed hardcover, I went out and bought a travel friendly paperback, which I re-read for the twentieth time on the plane.
ReplyDelete~Brooke,

Hi, I found you through the hop and thought I'd drop by.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Harry Potter will get old when it comes to reading (or maybe I'm just hoping it doesn't) and I can understand Twilight. It seems to be one of those series that have a lasting effect.
Hope you're having a great hopping weekend!
hi just stopping by to say hi i found you on the hop!
ReplyDeletebaby sitters club started me out a long time ago - how funny - found you from the hop and follow friday.

Thank you for "hopping" by my blog. I just read your review for "Staying Fat..." Sounds like a book I'm going to have to read. Thanks again, and have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I still haven't finished Pride and Prejudice. I've been reading it (off and on) for about a year and a half now! I like the story, of course; I just keep finding other, newer books and getting distracted.
ReplyDeleteI think it will be awhile before I pick up Twilight. The movies have turned me off big time. I want to read Room, but with so many review books, it will be awhile before I can get to it. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog! Already a follower :)

ReplyDeletestopping by to say hi from the hop! thanks for visiting my blog, i'm following you :)
ReplyDeleteHi! Hopping by your blog a little late.... but I'm happy I discovered your blog! Looking forward to seeing what's next. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Alison! I'm stopping again by to pass on the Versatile Blogger award to you. Come pick it up!
ReplyDeleteHi again!
ReplyDeleteI actually had read an ARC of Twilight months before the actual release, August, I think? When the book just hit store shelves, Stephenie Meyer did a small book tour and came to my mall. The book was so new that their were only like 10 people in her audience and I was one of the few that had read the book. :D I kick myself for being so shy b/c I literally could have picked her brain for quite sometime!!!! Now she's just far too popular.
I really wish Blogger was like LJ, where you can comment on comments!!! Anyway, my mom works at a library so she gets arcs sent over to her all the time. Most of my favorite books, I discovered first in arc form.
ReplyDeleteJust stopping by very late to finish up my hopping. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I wanted to drop in and say hi. I'm already a follower, but I do love your blog.
