Welcome to the Feature & Follow
Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers -- but you have to know -- the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.
The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!
How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools -- keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!
What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and ayou must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to Wordpress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don't have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed.
We pick our featured blogs randomly each week from the blogs who participated the week before.
Please be sure to feature your e-mail address clearly on your blog. Either on the main blog, on a Contact page, or on an About Me page. If I can't find your email easily, I will choose a different blog to feature.
Our Feature - Vicki @ Lilmissvix Reads
1. When did you start blogging?
I started blogging last December. I graduated from university with an English Lit and History degree last summer, and after leaving I found it odd no longer writing about the books that I was reading. I found myself keeping notes, which gradually turned into reviews, and the idea of starting a book blog just popped into my head one day. Little did I know that there was this whole crazy world of fellow book bloggers just waiting to be discovered!
2. What is your favorite part of book blogging?
Meeting like-minded people. Not many of my friends and family read, and so blogging is the perfect way to talk about the books that I love.
3. What type of books do you mainly blog about?
Mainly historical/contemporary romance and YA/NA fiction, but I'm happy to read and blog about pretty much anything!
4. What are your favorite books?
This is an impossible question! I love Elizabeth Chadwick's historical fiction, and Anthony Horowitz is another favourite author. I love classic authors like F. Scott Fitzgerald and the Bronté sisters too.
5. What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?
It's got to be the free books right? The postman must laugh to himself at how excited I get when he brings a parcel for me! Knowing that you're getting to read them before everybody else is an added bonus too.
Question of the Week: Post a photo of your favorite coffee mug (or mugs if you can’t choose just one).
*First thing: A reminder that if you want to be chosen as the Feature for #FF, please have your email address somewhere on your blog. I know there are other ways to contact people including Twitter and contact forms, but I've set up my #FF system in such a way that I need an email address. So for better or worse, that's the requirement for now.
I came up with this question, because I've developed a mug habit. I like having a nice cup up herbal tea before I go to bed and sometimes when I get up in the morning. This is a relatively new habit, so the mug obsession has followed it. My mug obsession also has to do with Ophelia's Gypsy Caravan, an Etsy seller whose mugs I've fallen in love with. She does these incredible hand-painted mugs with all sorts of quotes and designs on them. Most of the ones I've bought are Doctor Who mugs (and I've bought an embarrassing amount). You should all favorite her store on Etsy - she posts new mug supplies several times a year and they sell out within hours. You should buy some, although not the ones I still want to buy :-)
Here are the ones I've bought:
Here are the ones I've bought:
One of my favorite Doctor Who quotes: We're all stories in the end. Just make it a good one, eh? (My mug looks a little different than this one)
My favorite quote from the 50th Anniversary: “You know that sound the TARDIS makes? That wheezing, groaning? That sound brings hope wherever it goes… To anyone who hears it… Anyone, however lost.” –The Moment, The Day of the Doctor
"Tea! That's all I needed! Good cup of tea! Super-heated infusion of free-radicals and tannin, just the thing for healing the synapses." -The Tenth Doctor
"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause and effect, but actually, from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey stuff." -The Tenth Doctor
This gorgeous Harry Potter mug
I got this cool mug in one of my Book Riot Quarterly boxes. Love it.
How about you? Do you have any cool mugs? Is anyone as obsessed as I am?
Now for the Follow Fun!
With GFC going the way of the dodo bird for many bloggers, there is no better time to start following blogs via RSS feed. If you use a reader, it would be great if you followed my RSS directly. We have a new button, so update your blogs if you are used to doing this meme!

I'm totally jealous of your mugs! My daughter and I are relatively new Whovians (we're halfway through season 4), and we just got to see two episodes at the movie theater - Rise of the Cybermen and Age of Steel. They showed an interview with David Tennant afterward where he discussed filming those episodes and what he thinks of the newest Doctor. I loved seeing David on the big screen! :D

Awesome mugs, Alison! I love the bookish one. I tried to find one with Shakespeare quotes on when I was in Stratford, but I couldn't find one to my liking :(

I can't decide which one of yours I like more - the book riot quarterly one or those amazing Doctor Who ones. I love the quote "We're all stories in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?" when I saw that episode. Especially when it continues one "Because it was, you know, it was the best."
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!
