Feature and Follow Friday #255

Welcome to the Feature & Follow

Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature & Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers -- but you have to know -- the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it'll allow us to show off more new blogs!

How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools -- keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them "hi" in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!

What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and ayou must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to Wordpress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don't have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed.

Armchair BEA: Visual Expressions

***So in an odd development of events, I'm catching a plane this afternoon to go to New York! I'm planning to go to the last day of BEA and then spend several days sightseeing around New York. There are supposed to be thunderstorms in the city tomorrow, so I really hope my plane isn't delayed or cancelled fingers crossed. It was a spur of the moment decision to go cross country. I got some pretty bad news today. Basically the reason I skipped BEA didn't work out and it was like extra punishment to not be able to go to BEA. So I cashed in frequent flier miles and booked a trip to New York. It's made me very happy on an otherwise awful day.

Question of the Day

There are so many ways to tell stories. Whether it's comic books, graphic novels, visual novels, webcomics, etc, there are quite a lot of other mediums to tell a story. On this day, we will be talking about those books and formats that move beyond just words and use other ways to experience a story.

Armchair BEA: Introductions

1. Tell us a bit about yourself: How long have you been blogging? Where are you from? How did you get into blogging?

My name is Alison. I've been blogging for 5 years on June 4. I live in Montana. I got into blogging by reading some popular YA book blogs - all of which are now defunct, I think. I wanted to be part of that community, so I started my own blog.

2. Why do you loving reading and blogging?

The synopsis describes this as We Were Liars and Heist Society. To me, it sounds kind of like Orphan Black. I'm interested.

Summary

If seventeen-year-old Skylar Evans were a typical Creek View girl, her future would involve a double-wide trailer, a baby on her hip, and the graveyard shift at Taco Bell. But after graduation, the only thing standing between straightedge Skylar and art school are three minimum-wage months of summer. Skylar can taste the freedom—that is, until her mother loses her job and everything starts coming apart. Torn between her dreams and the people she loves, Skylar realizes everything she’s ever worked for is on the line.

Nineteen-year-old Josh Mitchell had a different ticket out of Creek View: the Marines. But after his leg is blown off in Afghanistan, he returns home, a shell of the cocksure boy he used to be. What brings Skylar and Josh together is working at the Paradise—a quirky motel off California’s dusty Highway 99. Despite their differences, their shared isolation turns into an unexpected friendship and soon, something deeper. (courtesy of Goodreads)
